The 1st meeting of the European Rural Mobility Network was held online and brought together for the first time members – and future members – of the ERMN, including rural municipalities and rural regional representatives with an interest in working on the rural mobility theme.
The event introduced the SMARTA-NET project, which is supporting the ERMN, as well as its activities and approaches taken by those who act at local and regional levels on rural mobility. Together, participants discussed inspiring rural mobility practices.
Over the next two years, the ERMN will organise five more events, each event having a specific theme of interest, based on the SMARTA-NET work and upcoming guidelines. If you are interested to become part of the Network activities, please complete the application form available on the ERMN page.

This is a virtual event on the mornings of 6-7th June 2023. The Network gets going on Day 1, with a range of thematic workshops on Day 2 (see Agenda).
This event is a great opportunity to share opinions and perspectives on rural mobility with others working in the sector. You will hear about the most promising solutions and initiatives to cope with related challenges.
The meeting brings together for the first time members – and future members – of the ERMN, which consist of rural municipalities and rural regional representatives with an interest in working on the rural mobility theme. But, of course, it is open to transport practitioners and stakeholders with an interest in the topic.
Over the next two years, the ERMN will organise six more events, issue guidelines, organise in-country training sessions, and provide access to surveys and guidance. If you are interested to become part of the Network activities, please complete the application form available on the ERMN page.
Our opening Event on 6-7th June will introduce the SMARTA-NET project, which is supporting the ERMN. You will hear about its activities and approaches taken by those who act at local and regional levels on rural mobility. Together, we will discuss explore inspiring rural mobility practices.
In addition, each event has a specific theme of interest, based on the SMARTA-NET work and upcoming guidelines. Our first event looks at linkages between tourism and mobility, and will introduce the self-diagnostic tool developed by the SMARTA-NET TEAM.
So, if you have an interest in rural mobility and would like to join our 1st ERMN meeting, please register by no later than 3rd of June 2023. We look forward to hearing from you and meeting you during 6-7th June!
