Mobility & tourism challenges

The city faces challenges due to its large area, spanning over 250 km², and the lack of a comprehensive public transportation system to meet the needs of its residents, with only a few county PSO bus lines available. The city includes many settlements (60), and many people live in these areas, requiring them to use their own cars to travel to the city or other destinations for work, school, or accommodation. This reliance on personal vehicles leads to heavy traffic within the city and parking problems.

Mobility and tourism solutions

Public communal transport

The City of Jastrebarsko is planning to prepare high-quality communal bus transport to connect the city and rural areas with railway and other buses towards the capital city. This new service will create new values for the citizens, improve the quality of life and accessibility for people who either live in rural areas or visit them as tourists. Also, in some parts, of the city the “on call transport” will be implemented. With this services, integrated passenger transportation will be also enabled in the city.

SUMP of City of Jastrebarsko

To address the mobility challenges in both urban and rural areas of the city, a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) will be developed. During this project, lessons learned, such as guidelines from previous initiatives, will be incorporated into the development of the SUMP.
